About Us
Our Seal / Emblem
The official seal of the association is a descriptive of the primary anatomical focus of our specialty, as well as the specialty’s roots.
The lateral view image of the head and neck signifies that we are one of the regional head and neck surgery specialties. Within the image is the highlighted oral and maxillofacial complex, which represent our area of expertise and prime focus.
Beside the lateral head and neck image is the caduceus, which denotes an ancient Greek symbol for the healing arts. Within the circle is a lavender colored background and serves as the official color of Dental Medicine. The images within the circle are green, which is the official color of Medicine.
Below the seal is a green ribbon, again representing the color of Medicine, and the names of the three root elements of our specialty in Latin: in the center of the ribbon – Dental Medicine and to its sides – Medicine and Surgery.
Today, the specialty forms the natural bridge between the current disciplines of Medicine and Dentistry. It is rooted in Surgery, Medicine, and Dentistry. The association seeks to be faithful to the definition, scope and roots of the specialty.
